SCRIP

How SCRIP Works

Since July 2003, the SCRIP program has made $35,000 for St. Pius X School!

Now that you know that, you may wonder what SCRIP is and how you can participate. Many schools across the nation use the SCRIP program to earn extra money. Here at St. Pius X School, the profit we earn is shared with the families who earned it. Sixty percent of the profit a family earns is credited to their tuition account. The other 40% remains at the school and is being set aside for renovations in the library.

We earn our profit with the SCRIP profit when you buy gift carts from us. The school buys gift cards from Great Lakes SCRIP, a middleman company, at a discount and sells them to you at face value. So, when you buy a $25 gas card, you pay $25. You redeem your gift card the same way you would redeem any other gift card. Each individual business sets their own profit percentage for you to earn. Then, of course, St. Pius X shares the profit with you. At first glance, this looks like a very small amount of money that you earn, but it definitely adds up. Our families have earned hundreds of dollars off their tuition using this program. The school is benefiting as well.

THE BEST THING ABOUT THE SCRIP PROGRAM IS THAT IT IS A WIN-WIN SITUATION. YOU EARN MONEY OFF YOUR TUITION AND WE EARN EXTRA MONEY FOR THE SCHOOL!

Here's how to start using SCRIP:

  1. Fill out an order form. You can get one in the school lobby or print one off this website. Attach a check made out to "St. Pius X Spirit." Send your order to school with your child or drop it off in the office. We place orders every Wednesday morning. They are ready to be picked up the following Tuesday.

  2. If you need some SCRIP immediately (i.e. you realize you're out of gas or will be eating fast food for dinner while running the kids to soccer) step in to the Latchkey office before or after school. We keep SCRIP on hand for about 40 of the most common businesses. You can have the gift cards right then and there. For a list of what we keep on hand, look at the form on this website called, "Drop-In Order Form."

  3. The most successful families have other family and friends also buying gift cards. Anyone is welcome to buy gift cards and designate that the profits go to your family. Other generous people have designated that the profits they earn go to a family who could use some help.

  4. Sign up for a Meijer Community Rewards card. Meijers has its own program for earning profit. It works like this: You sign up for a Community Rewards card. Applications are available in the school lobby or sign up on-line at www.meijer.com under Community Rewards. St. Pius code number is 734941. Meijers will mail you a card to scan whenever you shop at their store. This is not a credit card! Meijers keeps track of how much you buy and mails St. Pius X School a check for a percentage of that amount. St. Pius X shares your profit (60 % for you, 40 % for us) and adds it to your SCRIP profit totals. It's that easy! To make it even more profitable; you can get family and friends to sign up for a Meijer card under you. The profit they earn also goes to you.

  5. For details on how the profit is credited to your account, look at the form on this website called "SCRIP Rules and Guidelines."

  6. For a complete list of the retailers available for us to order (including out of state businesses,) click on glscrip.com and click on "Retailers."

The following volunteers run the SCRIP program: Amy Storms and Theresa Kennedy. Please contact them through the school office if you have any questions.
