The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

At St. Pius X, the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a series of 26 classes that give non-Catholics the information and time they need to decide if they want to become members of the Roman Catholic Church. It introduces people to the saving mission of Jesus and Catholic doctrine, liturgy and evangelistic work. Catholics who would like to develop a deeper faith and learn more about our Catholic faith are encouraged to attend.

The class atmosphere is kept as informal as possible; the coffee pot is always on and there are team members to help you with any questions.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

(RCIA) is a process of welcoming people into the Church and the parish; it helps to educate them on what it means to be Catholic and provides them with the support of loving, caring people who believe that living their faith is extremely important.
RCIA sponsors offer their love and support to the candidates or inquirers in this process of growth.

RCIA team members share their faith and the teachings of Christ and the Church with the inquirers, the candidates and the sponsors as they engage in their faith journey.

The RCIA process has four steps:

Pre-Catechumenate..a time of asking questions and making inquires.

Catechumenate..a time of spiritual and continued growth.

Enlightenment/Purification..a time, during Lent, spent in preparation to celebrate the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil, on Holy Saturday.

Mystagogy..a time of reaching out to others and living our faith experiences in our parish community.
