St. Pius X Church 50th Anniversary 2005


In honor of St. Pius X 50th Anniversary, a celebratory event
will take place each month throughout the 2005 calendar year.

January 8-9Celebration of Baptism
All parishioners will have the opportunity to renew their baptismal promise during weekend Masses. The Knights of Columbus will sponsor a wine and cheese reception Saturday evening and a pancake breakfast Sunday morning.

February 12-13Celebration of Marriage
Couples will stand and renew their marriage vows during weekend Masses. Those married over 50 years will receive special recognition. Everyone will be invited to a wedding cake social after each Mass sponsored by the Altar Society.

March 5-6Stewardship to our Parish
All parish members will learn what it is to give of themselves and will take home a reminder to keep throughout the month. The Ushers Club will sponsor a cookies and punch reception Saturday evening and coffee and donuts reception Sunday morning.

April 23Celebration of Confirmation
Bishop Mengling will be present to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation.

May 1Celebration of First Communion
Our young parishioners will celebrate the Sacrament of First Communion at 11:30 a.m. Mass. Celebration of St. Pius X Our patron saint, St. Pius X, will be honored throughout the month.

June 25-2650th Anniversary Celebration
In honor of the opening of St. Pius X Parish on June 29, 1954, Bishop Mengeling will celebrate Mass Saturday evening. A formal dinner will follow. Ticket proceeds will be used toward new linens and centerpieces for funeral dinners. A parish-wide picnic/fun day will follow 11:30 a.m. Mass.

July Take Christ on Vacation
Parishioners will receive a 50th Anniversary commemorative gift at select Masses this month

August 21Feast of St. Pius X
Our patron saint, St. Pius X, will be honored with an ice cream social.

September 18Catechetical Sunday
All school and religious education teachers will be honored. A coffee and donuts reception will follow all Masses sponsored by the Home-School Council.

October 2Blessing of the Animals


October 16Living Rosary
All parishioners will be given a finger rosary and booklet. A cider and donuts reception will follow all Masses sponsored by the 50th Anniversary committee.

November Remember Faithfully Departed/Thanksgiving
All parishioners will be asked to donate can goods for the needy. All donations will be given to the East Michigan Food Bank.
